I had to move away from his throat. It was too much of a temptation. In my desperation I had to fight for myself, for him, for us. As my fangs elongated and my eyes changed I had to move away, to use almost everything in me to hold back, to keep from biting him, to keep from turning him into my version of forever. He looked me in the eyes and leaned forward, moving his hands from my waist, up my chest, over my neck and into my hair. His fingers moved through the strands as his lips skimmed my collarbones, up my jaw to my ear where he whispered the fatal word “Mine.” It was a battle I knew I could win, but it was a war I was destined to lose. So I pinned him to the wall and gave us both everything neither of us would admit to wanting.
